Hello… and welcome to my blog. This is a new experience for me, and one I am undertaking with a lot of courage since I am not at all familiar with the territory. But its part of my nature to explore the new and unfamiliar so here goes!
I am an artist and owner of Blu Moon Studio of Art in Coconut Grove Fl. I have been here for almost a year… painting, teaching, and building the studio. It is a work in progress and a labor of love. My background is in painting and drawing, and I have a BFA from the University of Florida. I have been teaching art in various locations in Miami for the past ten years, and have worked with all ages and skill levels. I truely enjoy helping people find the keys to their creativity.
I was born in Miami, but as a Pan Am brat, I lived in many places in the U.S. and Europe as a child, and as an adult. Moving around a lot allowed me to become very adaptable and to appreciate new vistas and world views. This experience has shaped me as an artist.
I work in acrylic and oil and have lately been exploring mixed media. I would best describe my work as “Magical Realism” and I draw on themes that I believe are universal, and that speak to the collective consciousness. I also work with these themes in the creation of Mandalas, and I do workshops in which I guide participants in the creation of their own Mandalas.
I believe that creative energy fuels all of our endeavors and that this energy manifests itself in countless ways. I find great joy in embracing this energy and letting it flow through my art.
